15 year old presents with pancreatitis. Hint - Aladdin travel


 




Fatty infiltration of the liver, with particulate material in the stomach and extending through out the gastrointestinal tract with intussuception

Diagnosis: CARPET BEZOAR

The patient has psycho social problems and was eating carpet. At surgery enterostomies were done and four pounds of carpet was removed.

Hint- Aladdin travel-magic carpet

  

A bezoar is mass of ingested foreign material in the stomach.

 

TYPES:

Trichobezoar- Hair- most common

Phytobezoar- Vegetable fiber

Lactobezoar- Milk precipitates

Gastrolith- Concretions of various materials

 Tricho and phytobezoars usually require surgical removal, to prevent ulceration, perforation,
